ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is an ancient form of healing which originated in China. Through the use of carefully placed needles, the practitioner encourages a healthy flow of Qi in the body. Qi translates as energy, or the vital life force. Chinese Medicine believes that a healthy flow of Qi in our bodies is vital to our continued wellbeing. Simply put; Flowing Qi = Good Health. And Poorly Flowing Qi = Bad Health. Indications of poorly flowing Qi are: tension, pain, tightness, decay, fatigue, headaches, and disease.
All acupuncture needles are single use only, and come in sealed packets, which are opened fresh before your eyes. The needles used are by the leading TEWA brand. These needles are certified sterile by Asia Medical, and are later disposed of hygienically into Sharps bins. When full, these bins are then collected and disposed of by way of incineration by a leading Clinical Waste Management Company

QUANTUM COHERENCE THERAPY (ENERGY HEALING)
Quantum Coherence Therapy is an energy based treatment designed to strengthen the human body’s natural ability to heal itself. It works by raising the body’s overall energetic vibration, which promotes self-healing. It also raises the client’s overall mood and spirits.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
My Deep Tissue Massage is influenced by training in Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release Trigger Point Therapy and elements of a heavier handed form of Chinese Massage called Tui-Na. To perform it, I use range of motion, manipulation, traction, and deep pressure massage, together with the stimulation of Acupuncture points. These combined techniques aid in the treatment of both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions.
Not for the faint hearted!
EAR CANDLING
Ear Candling is an ancient practice conceived to gently increase blood and lymph flow around the ear thus cleansing and detoxing these areas.
I use only Hopi Ear Candles in my practice. Hopi Ear candles are handmade by the Biosun company using only natural ingredients such as organic cotton, beeswax, honey, chamomile and sage. Biosun candles are certified medical products according to the EU guidelines EC93 42, EEC for medical products, and the German product medical law. Biosun Ear candles are specially designed with a safety filter, and have a red line marked on them to designate the maximum burn level.
Ear Candling is particularly effective in treating the following conditions:
- Headache and migraine
- Compacted ear wax
- Glue ear
- Tinnitus
- Frontal and para nasal Sinus problems
- Colds, Rhinitis, Sore throats.
- Ear pressure problems and more.
(If you are in doubt about any of these conditions or problems that you have with your ear please consult your GP before attending for treatment).
Most clients find this treatment very relaxing and describe a “peaceful sensation”
in the ears and head, aswell as reporting a "noticeable sense of calm" in body afterward.
ORTHOPAEDIC MASSAGE
Orthopaedic Massage is a style of massage influenced heavily by Chinese Medicine. It relies on gentle pressure generated by applying just 4 ounces of weight to the body in a gentle and soothing motion. It can be received with clothes on, and it works very well on freeing up injured or tense muscles by gently breaking down blockages, scar tissue and/or adhesions.
TAI-CHI BEGINNERS CLASSES
Tai-Chi, or Tai-Chi Chuan, which is sometimes spelt T'ai qi or T'ai Chi, is both a gentle exercise and a moving Meditation. During class you will learn how to correctly align your body to develop energy, suppleness and balance. Tai-Chi is fun, restorative and helps develop bone strength and stamina. It is wonderful for rehabbing from both injury and illness. It is taught in a very personalised manner, specific to your current capabilities and your own individual needs.
Beginners classes are currently underway on Wednesdays from 2pm to 4pm in the Geraldine Hall, which is in the Harbour area of Maynooth. (The Geraldine Hall is also known locally as the Scouts Den).
Classes are €15 each, and include a guided Meditation too.
MEDITATION
Meditation is a very useful tool to help you relax and unwind. Used properly, it can even help you develop a stronger mind-body connection. This can be very useful to pick up, and act on messages that our immune and nervous systems send us before we even get sick!! It can also help us to recover faster from illness, and to reach a more relaxed state by allowing us to release tensions and stress from the body on a daily basis.
The style of Meditation taught in the Treatment Room is influenced by Taoist Philosophy, and is focussed on very patiently grounding, settling, calming and relaxing both mind and body. This leads to an overall reduction in anxiety, tension and stress levels and promotes a very refreshing sense of well-being.
CUPPING
Cupping is yet another therapeutic form of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Cupping facilitates improved lymphatic drainage, while also enhancing blood circulation and Qi flow. The gentle & strategic application of suction cups lifts the skin and fascia, creating a localised & temporary vacuum. This benefits the area's natural drainage & circulation pathways. This is a painless, but wonderful treatment for pain caused by blood stasis, stagnant lymph and/or muscular restriction or tension.
